Meet the Buyer & Skills Showcase with Bristol Airport | Bristol Airport | Thursday, 10. January 2019

Bristol Airport introduces a special ‘Meet the Buyer’ and networking event, bringing together the airport’s tier one contractors along with members of the in-house development team, to give an overview of upcoming projects and an introduction to working at the airport.
As part of the event Business West’s skills team will also explore the skills challenges for the region’s construction industry and related supply chain; inviting attendees to share and explore their skills and recruitment challenges which may prohibit meeting multiple supply demands in the region. Working together with the region’s training providers and utilising regional funding, Business West can help industry come together to address these challenges.
The Skills West team will have a 10-minute speaking slot and a ‘stand’ during networking time – there will also be a request for the attendees to contribute their skills and training needs for the region.

This is an ideal opportunity for local businesses to showcase their skills and find out more about opportunities to work with one of the region’s most exciting businesses.

These are exciting times at Bristol Airport. With passenger numbers forecast to top nine million for the first time next year, a range of construction projects are underway to ensure facilities for passengers and business partners keep pace. More than £160 million has been invested in infrastructure since 2010, and this looks set to continue. This growth could see the airport delivering a staggering £2.4 billion to the region’s economy and presents opportunities for a wide range of suppliers across South West England and South Wales. Ahead of what is expected to be a busy 2019, the Airport is seeking to build resilience in its supply chain and further build on already strong local connections. Projects are likely to include major building refurbishments (including internal demolition), new buildings (including internal fit-out), new aircraft stands, enhancements to the terminal (including new lifts and relocation of staircases), new multi-storey car parks and more.
