Brian Williams
Having been interested in the theatre for many years, and involved with various North West Theatre Companies both in acting and production, initially with the Little Theatre in Liverpool, at the Neptune Theatre, Brian produced such plays as Separate Tables, George and Margaret and Hobson’s Choice.
Joining the Birkenhead Operatic Trust (in 1959) as a very junior chorus member, he was eventually given the opportunity of principal roles, the first being in The Merry Widow at the Royal Court Theatre in Liverpool. Since then Brian has secured many lead roles, his most recent being that of Professor Higgins in My Fair Lady at the Theatre Royal in St. Helen’s in 2001.
In Brian’s business life he was given the opportunity to travel the world for a short time as Entertainments Officer with Cunard Line, bringing him into contact with many artistes on both sides of the Atlantic in the organizing of various show on board.
Alison is from Crosby and studies singing with Barry Webb. After spending some years playing principal roles with her local Gilbert and Sullivan society, then moving onto Operetta and Musical Theatre, she has finally arrived at Opera, performing roles with Opera Viva. Her most memorable role was playing Nick Hardy’s mother, Mamma Lucia, in Cavalleria Rusticana. She has recently retired as musical director at Merchant Taylor’s Junior Boys School, successfully directing, and often producing, musicals and concerts, and is enjoying her new found freedom diversifying into performing recitals in venues around Merseyside and West Lancashire. She is delighted to be back at St Lawrence’s with Brian.
