The Intricate Road of Treating Children & Adolescents with Complex Trauma, Dissociation & Attachment Wounds:

Children and adolescents with complex trauma, attachment wounds, dissociation and dysregulation of the affective system have developed defenses and negative internal representations of themselves and others.

In this training you will receive a review of the latest literature and research on complex trauma, attachment and dissociation in children and adolescents. Multiple models and theories that address the etiology and differential diagnoses and clinical interview tools for children with dissociative tendencies will be covered.

Multiple strategies and advanced protocols will be provided to work with children with mild to moderate dissociative symptoms as well as children with fragmentation in their emerging personalities.

A multi-factored model (Gomez) of stabilization is presented with various central organizers that facilitate its structuring and configuration with complex cases. Furthermore, a systematic approach where the caregivers are in partnership with the clinician working to support the healing of the child will be presented.

This training will offer alternatives and interventions that access trauma-related phobias and entrenched maladaptive forms of self-protection.

EMDR will be mentioned as one of many interventions and this seminar is open to all licensed mental health providers.

No EMDRIA credits will be available.

Ana Gomez, MA, LPC: She is the founder and director of the AGATE Institute in the U.S. She is EMDR Institute, and EMDR-IBA trainer of trainers. She is a psychotherapist, author, and an international speaker on the use of EMDR therapy with children and adolescents with complex and developmental trauma as well as attachment wounds and dissociation.
