SuSTEAMability Showcase | Dunfermline High School | Tuesday, 10. March 2020

We are inviting your school (and/or nursery if applicable) to participate in a hybrid STEAM and ECO event being held at Dunfermline High School on Tuesday 10th March from 5-7pm.
This event is entitled the Fife SuSTEAMability Showcase and will be the second of three across the authority. It is the only event of its kind in Scotland.
Dunfermline High School will host the event in the assembly hall with breakout rooms for 30 minute workshops.
Guest speakers with information on Learning for Sustainability resources, funding, and support will be available.
Participating schools will be allocated a table and are invited to bring display boards and any other visual aids exemplifying some ways in which STEM and Learning for Sustainability are offered in their schools.
Here are some examples of ways you might be blending STEAM and LfS (This list is far from exhaustive!)

Maths or Science in the local environment/school grounds - measuring, counting, investigating

Global citizenship - campaigning on the topic of climate change, school partnerships
Connecting Classrooms programme with the British Council
Progressing to achieve or maintain Green Flag status
Using technology to record and share environmental data
Design and making bird or bat boxes
Goblin kit car
Electric powered vehicles, K'Nex structures as wind turbines, remote control Lego vehicles

and so much more!
This event will be open to education practitioners and partners only. Light refreshments will be available.
It will feature schools from Fife's own Learning for Sustainability Network (an informal group of cheery practitioners who share an interest in LfS ) so it's a great opportunity to come along and network for fresh ideas and contacts.
Teaching staff, with pupils if you wish, may come to set up their display board on designated tables from 4pm on the 10th. Please add your school name and crest/logo to your display. Your resources should be brought and removed on the same evening. It's easiest if you bring your display boards pre-loaded and well secured!
Last time we had 24 displays from nursery, primary, ASN, secondary and university as well as external partner agencies with links to STEM and sustainability.
This event will form part of Fife Science Festival during British Science Week.
If you are looking for a way for your school or setting to take part in British Science Week 2020, this would be a fun, relaxed way of doing so.
Please confirm your plac, by signing up and ordering your tickets.
Remeber to indicate how many from your team will man a table ( for catering purposes)
There is likely to be some overlap or duplication in the displays so if you tell us in advance of your content we will try to spread similar foci apart.
This is intended to be a relaxed , low key, sharing of ideas.
If you’d like to attend to network/get ideas but do not wish to host a display, that would be fine too.
Workshop attendance must be booked in advance.
Please feel free to ask any questions or tell us of any worries you may have. Dunfermline High School is very keen to welcome everyone there on the evening.
