What the Health! TOOLS TO SUPPORT HEALTH LITERACY | The School House | Wednesday, 02. October 2019

" Health literacy is about people having enough knowledge, understanding, skills and confidence to use health information, to be active partners in thier care, and to navigate health and social care systems" (Scottish Government, 2014)This half day course offers participants the opportunity to better understand the health literacy agenda as well as practice skills to improve health literacy.        
On completion of this course participants should be able to:

Understand what is meant by the term health literacy
Understand the impact of poor health literacy and who may be affected
Understand and demonstrate techniques to improve health literacy.

Participants: Anyone who works with staff/clietns/patients in any community or health care setting

Once I apply for a place on a course, is that my confirmation?
Once you have applied, your details will be forwarded to the facilitator who will then short list 4-6 weeks before the course. You will then be contacted by email from the Health Promotion Service to confirm your place with final detials for the course.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Courses are open to anyone 16+ who work in Edinburgh and the Lothians
 What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Car parking is limited as it is a hospital sites, please use public trainsport where possible.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?
Please do not send someone in your place until you have contacted the Service to see if there is a waiting list
Charges for courses
Our courses are free of charge.  We do reserve the right to invoice for an administration fee of £40 to those who book a place on a training course but who do not attend without giving prior notice.  If there are extenuating circumstances which prevent you from attending please let us know as soon as possible so we can take this into consideration.
