Are you visiting Edinburgh for the first time or simply looking for an alternative night out? Are you curious about astronomy and want to find out more?
Come and hear the story of Edinburgh’s Royal Observatory at our Public Astronomy Evenings. Each session lasts 1 hour and includes;


A tour of the beautiful Victorian telescope dome


Information about the science and engineering that happens today at the Royal Observatory Edinburgh


Stargazing outside on the flat roof (weather permitting)


Time to ask questions


These events are designed to be suitable for all ages, with the earlier session timed for those with younger children.
When the weather or season doesn’t allow us to stargaze, alternative activities will be arranged.
