RESOURCE BASED APPOINTMENTSThis workshop will consider how architects can prepare a fee proposal based on the RIBA Plan of Work which can be incorporated into the architects terms of appointment using standard RIAS forms. The workshop will require active input from attendees and will be particularly useful to Part 3 students and new practitioners.

GIA CPD EVENT 4 - Reclaiming Sustainability – 30th January 2019.

Sustainability as a word has been stolen, its meaning washed away or lost in a political sea. The time has come to reclaim it as our own. At this lecture we will break down its components to help architects identify where it is and how we can rejuvenate the RIAS Sustainability Accreditation and Sustainability Policy. As a starting point we will use Howard Liddell & Sandy Halliday's book ‘Eco Minimalism’ and it’s four chapter headings Fire, Water, Air and Earth supplemented by an additional fifth element (Aether) to consider social sustainability.

CDM 2015 Designer’s duty to manage risk: a helpful tool
Presentation of a training tool that allows architects to identify hazards in their designs, including latest guidance on Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.

Event Details -
** All events start at 18:00 in the Billiards Room of the Mackintosh at the Willow in Sauchiehall Street with Teas and Coffee served from 17.30.**


Free to full time students with a valid matriculation card (limited number of places available). Please write directly to practice@ to book your place.


The Small Practice Group meets in the Conference Room, on the 2nd floor between 17:00 – 17:55. Attendance is free for all RIAS / GIA members. These meetings provide an opportunity for architects working alone or in small teams to share knowledge, network with like minded colleagues and cover CPD topics relevant to smaller practices.


Access is via the retail entrance then lift or stairway.


All welcome to look around the exhibition area.


Coffee, Tea, Water, Juice, Shortbread is served on the 2nd floor between 17:30 – 18:00.


CPD presentation in the Billiards Room, on 2nd floor between 18:00 – c.19:30.


CPD Certificates will be emailed after the CPD event. Please ensure we have the correct email address on the attendance sheet when signing in on the night.
