Python for Higher Computing Science Teachers - Glasgow | CodeClan | Friday, 08. March 2019

Education Scotland is offering a free 2-day intensive professional learning course for teachers of Computing Science in Scotland
The course will focus on using Python to deliver the outcomes in the Software Design and Development (Higher) Unit.  The course will be delivered at Scotland's digital skills academy, CodeClan, by their team of experienced software development instructors.
The objective of the course is to give teachers in Scotland a way to improve their coding skills to be better able to deal with the demands of the Higher Computing Science course. Applicants should be familiar with at least one programming language and have had previous experience of delivering National 5 and/or Higher Computing Science. This course will most likely suit practitioners who are relatively new to Python or are considering delivering Computing Science Software Development units using Python in the near future.
Any Computing Science teacher currently employed in Scotland can apply - local authority or private sector. Teachers from other disciplines may also apply, however CS teachers will be given priority.
The course will run at CodeClan's Glasgow office, from 10am - 4pm each day, on:
Friday 8th and Saturday, 9th March 2019
Lunch and refreshments provided.
Please apply no later than 1st March 2019
This programme is supported by funding from the Digital Scotland Business Excellence Partnership.

FAQs
Who is able to apply?
Any Computing Science teacher currenly actively employed in Scotland - local authority or private sector.
Can multiple applications come from the same school?
Yes, but in the event of oversubscription we would change the lists to ensure fairer regional representation.
Can a non-CS qualified teacher apply - ie, if Technology or Maths teacher applied, would they be accepted?
Yes, as coding is not the sole domain of CS Teachers, teachers from other disciplines may apply. However, if applications are oversubscribed by CS Teachers, we would prioritise CS over non-CS backgrounds.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
CodeClan is located in the city centre and easily accessible by public transport.  We are located about 15 mins walk from Waverley and Haymarket train stations.  Car parking is available at nearby Riego Street and Castle Terrace car parks
