Skin Health and Organic Skin Care Workshop | Soul Food Kitchen | Friday, 01. March 2019

The largest organ of the body is skin but it is often taken for granted. It is the barrier that protects our insides from the harshness of our environments - chemicals, toxins and the sometimes unforgiving elements. Skin conditions are on the rise and its more important than ever to nurture, take care and understand your skin's needs.

This workshop will be led by 2 doctors who specialise in disease prevention and lifestyle medicine. They will give you an overview of the function and physiology of skin and what skin health means in "medical" terms. This will be followed by a session by Lucie Bradley who is a professional, clinical medical herbalist. She qualified from The Scottish School of Herbal Medicine and practices at Neal's Yard Remedies and also runs a successful, fully functional apothecary from her home in Pollokshields. Lucie will teach you how to make your own organic skincare products, from scratch using only natural ingredients. You will learn about what to use, why and how to tailor your skincare to your own needs and skin type. By reducing the number of chemicals you use topically, you will feel empowered to take charge of your own health.
You will learn how to make your own facial products: scrubs and moisturisers as well as covering information about body products. This workshop is applicable to both men and women because skin health matters to everyone. By the end of the workshop you will feel confident about how to make basic creams. You will go home with a sample of all products made during the session and receive detailed handouts.
