Closing the Word-Gap | West London Free School Primary | Wednesday, 13. March 2019

This course is aimed at primary teachers, senior leaders and leaders of English.
As primary teachers, we are aware of the importance of building children’s vocabularies and the difficulties that children **** when they don’t have the words they need to communicate. Accessing the curriculum poses a huge challenge for children who have yet to acquire a wide, varied vocabulary. Without enough language- a word gap- a child’s potential cannot be met, impacting upon their enjoyment of school and ultimately their success.
This course will explore ways in which we can provide vocabulary-rich classrooms and close the word-gap using a well-planned, well-sequenced, knowledge-rich curriculum.
Alex Pethick, the Curriculum Director for the Knowledge Schools Trust’s ‘Primary Knowledge Curriculum’ will lead this course.
Please arrive at 9.30am for a 10am start. Lunch will be provided and the day will finish at 2.30pm.If you have any dietary requirements, or require assistance with access, please do let us know in advance
