The Role of WWI Chaplains (Lancaster) | Lancaster Library | Wednesday, 30. January 2019

Come and join us for the first of a monthly series of talks presented by The Friends of Lancaster Library. During the First World War over 70 Primitive Methodist ministers served as chaplains in the armed forces. Phil Jackson from Lancaster Library will discuss the war time experiences of 5 of these men, examining their social background prior to the war and the importance of their shared religious education at Hartley College, Manchester. He will also describe their efforts, as part of the Royal Army Chaplains department, to serve the British soldiers they encountered on the Western Front.
All welcome, no booking required.
