To give an overview of how speech, language and communication skills develop and what can ‘go wrong’

To enable you to identify children in your setting with Speech, Language and Communication Needs

To provide advice and strategies on encouraging development of speech, language and communication skills

When and how to access support from the speech and language therapy service

Ideal For:
Any practitioners working with children – nursery and early years practitioners, teaching assistants, teachers and SENCOs.
This course is particularly useful for staff that are new to a setting or role supporting children or for those who would like to refresh their knowledge of speech, language and communication skills.
This course provides an overview of what is meant by the terms ‘speech’, ‘language’ and ‘communication’, how these areas develop and what can be done to support children with development of these skills.

There is limited car parking at Middleton Health Centre but parking is available on the streets nearby, please park considerately.

Is there food and drink available to purchase?
Please note that although refreshments are provided on our courses, lunch is not so please make suitable arrangements.
There are limited food outlets nearby so please consider bringing a packed lunch if required.
