The Power of Design Engineering | Mason Bibby Common Room | Thursday, 21. February 2019

LivWiSE is delighted to welcome Emma Lewis, Senior Mechanical Design Engineer at Eaton, to discuss how she became a engineer, her current work, and what Eaton does.
About Eaton
Eaton is one of the biggest corporations in the world that not many have heard of. There are four key sectors of the business; Electrical, Aerospace, Vehicle and Hydraulics with 96,000 employees across the world.
About Emma
Emma Lewis (Senior Mechanical Design Engineer), started her role at Eaton Electrical division in Cwmbran, South Wales in February 2017 as a Mechanical Design Engineer and last year, was promoted to Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. She helps to maintain their current product range by supporting design changes and OEM customer requests. She also works on creating new products, such as their new fire panel range. Her role is to design the fire panel back box and the mechanics of the internal components. This has meant working closely with hardware engineers to achieve a electrically safe, cost effective, space efficient, robust and user-friendly design.
In addition to her role as a Design Engineer, she is part of the core WAVE (Women Adding Value to Eaton) team as the divisional STEM ambassador. She has been working closely with EMEA and our global team on planning this years’ events such as International Women’s Day.
Emma has a keen interest in inspiring young people to take careers in STEM and design. She is now working with a team on building a two year partnership with 5 local schools to enthuse teachers and inspire young people by giving an insight into Eaton and their industries.
All welcome. Places are FREE but limited.
