All-Night Psychedelic Gong Bath | The Old Baths | Friday, 22. December 2017

Join us for the special Winter Solstice celebration - All-Night Psychedelic Gong Bath, a unique and magical sleepover gong experience at The Old Baths in Hackney Wick.

This is a night to stay in a peaceful and deeply meditative space, and have a healing and transcendental journey till sunrise.

The evening will begin with an hour of Psychedelic Yoga to practice some techniques like postures, mudras, mantras, breath-work, meditation and philosophy that can help us to navigate the psychedelic gong bath experience.

There will be a little break for tea and time to set up our sleeping nests for the night ceremony. After a short introduction, a guided meditation will take you into the gong dream space.

You will be “bathed” in the sound waves of gongs for 8 hours continuously. As the powerful vibrations and harmonics wash over you, they will induce deep relaxation, altered states of consciousness and help to release tensions and blocks. Expect to emerge revitalised and rejuvenated in the morning, and please allow yourself to rest for the rest of the weekend to fully ‘digest’ the process that can last for a few days after the experience.

Psychedelic Gong/Sound Bath participants variously report powerful bodily sensations and meditative states often accompanied by rich imagery, visions and insights, or feeling of timeless nothingness, levitation, ecstasy and bliss. The overall experience might feel quite psychedelic.

There will be a number of gongs being played as well as other ritual instruments combined with overtone singing, all used to weave a tapestry of sound to guide you on your inner journey.

At the beginning of the night the sound might feel quite intensive at moments. After a while we will keep it gentle and comforting till the early morning. Around 7.30am the gongs will go silent and we are strongly suggesting you to stay in that stillness for at least 20min. This is when most people tend to experience the most powerful insights and a profound feeling of inner peace and liberation.

The sun will rise at 8.04am, when all of us will be invited to the lounge & cafe area to share our night experiences with each other over a hot drink and a freshly prepared organic breakfast from Gaia Pulses.

During the night you can meditate or just sleep. In both cases you will feel the beneficial effects of healing sounds of the gongs.

This event isn’t designed for people to take psychedelics at (though the combination of the frequencies brought about from the gongs, alongside the elements of ecstatic dance & meditation, can bring about altered states of consciousness similar to those experienced via psychedelics). The Psychedelic Society does organise monthly ‘Psychedelic Experience Weekends’; for more information please visit

What to bring: clean comfortable clothing to change after the active part of our event, pillows, sleeping bag, blankets, camping/yoga mat or blow up bed, or any other item that will help aid your comfort as you will be sleeping on the floor. We strongly suggest to abstain from bringing king size inflatable mattresses and to keep the space of your “resting quaters” within a reasonable size. A good idea would be to bring warm socks/slippers and a bottle of drinking water.

We advise you to eat a good meal an hour before the event, but not too heavy, and no alcohol/drugs. Before the Gong Bath there will be herbal teas available with biscuits and dried fruit, along ceremonial grade pu-erh or oolong tea for those who prefer meditating over sleeping. You are welcome to use a kettle at any time during the night if needed.

Gaia Pulses, a cafe at The Old Baths is an amazing project of real, organic and sustainable food with a difference. A morning meal from the cafe is included in your ticket and it consists of a hot drink of your choice and a light breakfast (5 different options inc GF). You can also have a fuller breakfast or something more special on your own cost. Here’s a full cafes menu:

The event is open to all who preferably have had a gong bath at least once and know ‘what to expect’. It is not recommended if you are epileptic or have mental health concerns.
