School of Social Sciences Interdisciplinary Colloquium on Forgiveness | Arthur Lewis Building | Friday, 18. October 2019

Join us for an interdisciplinary colloquium on the topic of 'forgiveness' and what forgiveness might mean in Social Science research, organized by Paula Satne, James Hodgson and Brian Heaphy.
We have invited colleagues from different departments in the School of Social Sciences (Sociology, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics) to speak on the topic of forgiveness in their research. We also have an invited speaker, Prof Oliver Hallich, from the University of Duisberg-Essen. Prof Hallich is a philosopher and has published widely on forgiveness. Each talk will last about 30 to 40 minutes and will be followed by 20 - 30 minutes of questions and discussion.
Presentations:
Prof Oliver Hallich is our invited speaker from the University of Duisberg-Essen.
Dr Owen Abbott, from the Department of Sociology, University of Manchester.
Dr Katherine Smith, from the Department of Anthropology.
TBC, from the Department of Philosophy/Politics.
We hope the colloquium will be a stimulating afternoon, generate new intellectual connections across disciplines, and serve as an opportunity for SoSS members to meet colleagues outside of their discipline area.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Please notify James Hodgson () if you have any dietary requirements.
