Open Data Essentials for Researchers: Creating Data Management Plans

Further details on session: There are many decisions to make about managing your data before you even start creating/collecting it, it is important to have a data management plan (DMP) in place, as good preparation ensures you will manage your data most efficiently. Many funders now require a DMP to be submitted with grant proposals.
Aims: In this session we will help you answer some of the most frequently asked questions about Data Management Plans:

What data is going to be collected?
Where will this data be stored?
Will you be sharing your data?
How will others be able to understand the data?
What plans do you have to prepare your data for long term archiving or preservation?

Outcomes: : Participants will gain a thorough understanding of  the principles of good data management, and will understand what needs to be covered in a DMP.
This course is for UCLan staff members and students (interested in making research data open access) and is run by the Scholarly Communications Unit – For further information email: rdmsupport@uclan.ac.uk
