Workshop on autonomous robot asset inspection in the energy industry | The Lowry | Tuesday, 15. October 2019

A workshop on the role of robotics and autonomous systems in the energy sector to share the latest from EPSRC funded HOME Offshore, and UKRI funded RAIN Hub programme.
The event will be held at Lowry Theatre, MediaCity UK, on Tuesday 15th of October 2019.
The workshop will feature speakers from HOME Offshore, RAIN and from industrial stakeholders who will provide a current picture of how we imagine the role of robotics systems in the operations and maintenance energy assets.
In addition to the talks, we will have a showcase of some of the technologies developed by the projects with the main feature being an inspection of floating wind turbines using robots, recreated in the heart of the MediaCity bay.  Two small-scale wind turbines will be visually inspected by automated aerial drones  and an underwater ROV, which is operated from shore via a Virtual Reality (VR) interface, see video for details.
This will be an excellent opportunity for early carer researchers in the area to network with some of our industrial partners and to hear about the research undertaken by these projects. It will also be a excellent opportunity to industrial partners to see a demonstration of what is currently possible with the help of robotics systems.
