Workshop Topic: Creative LoopingBased on his book and video workshop „Kreativ Loopen“, Julian Scarcella is going to demonstrate and explain how to use your Loop Station with lots of creativity. Topics include:- What is a loop and a phrase?- What are the parameters in a Loop Station?- How to use a Loop Station?- What are some common mistakes while looping and how to avoid them?- Example songs and performances- How to arrange a song for a loop performance?- How to incorporate effects into your loops?- Improvising over loops - Julian’s tricks on improvisation including using arpeggios instead of scales, modes and modal interchange.About Julian:Julian was born in 1995 in Hamlin, Germany, and at the age of 7 he started to play the guitar.In his youth he was influenced by virtuoso guitar players such as Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and Guthrie Govan.At the age of 12 he started his YouTube career with looping, by taking part in competitions and making his own gear reviews and videos. 2 years later, he was offered an endorsement from an Italian guitar manufacturer receiving his signature guitar.He had the privilege to play with famous artists such as Victor Smolski, Jeff Waters and Tommy Denander.He has also performed at trade shows such as the “Frankfurter Musikmesse” many times and his YouTube videos turned towards gear demoing and song performances. Julian is endorsed by Engl Amps, Cordial Cables and Ortega Guitars.He has won multiple big competitions in Germany such as the 'Jugend Musiziert' and an online competition called 'Lee Ritenour Competition' (Berklee Scholarship).Today he works in his studio, „Muli Studios“, in Hamlin as a session guitarist, mixing/mastering engineer, videographer, composer and arranger.In October 2016 he began studying jazz music at the HMTMH conservatorium in Hannover.At the moment he is focused on doing session work as well as leading workshops all around the world.
